Game Day!

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

Game day is here! The Pack take on the mighty Terriers of Wofford tonight at Carter Finley Stadium. I look for the Pack to bounce back from the way they have started the season and hang some points on the board. Don’t be surprised to see Andree Brown and Darrell Blackmon to have BIG games! Last week against BC Brown let the team in receptions and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him among the leaders this week, as well as surpassing 100 rushing yards. Blackmon is just a game changer all in his own. Anytime he gets the ball in his hand is dangerous. I look for him to have 100+ receiving yards and a ton of return yards.

The Pack’s losing streak ends NOW!

Beck to Start at BC

Monday, September 3rd, 2007

You will notice that we did not blog on the Central Florida game. Partly because of our disappointment and parley because it is Labor Day weekend and we needed to catch up on sleep. So we move on to the second game on the season and the second starting quarterback of the season. Harrison Beck will replace Daniel Evans as the starting QB when the Wolfpack makes the trip to BC this weekend. Beck played the entire second half of the UCF game and lead a rally that fell two points short. We thought that he showed some promise as the signal caller. He has a strong arm and was able to buy some time and take the check downs when necessary. Of course he has lots of work to do, but he has gotten off to a good start.

Get Well Toney

Monday, September 3rd, 2007

It’s not looking good for us guys. I don’t even want to comment much on this subject. If you haven’t found yet, Toney Baker is out for the rest of the season. Yeah, I didn’t stutter. This was on the Go Pack website:

NC State junior tailback Toney Baker suffered a season-ending knee injury during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s season opener against Central Florida. During arthroscopic surgery on Sunday morning, Dr. Michael Fajgenbaum discovered cartilage damage. Baker will undergo reconstructive surgery at a later date.

The Wolfpack’s leading rusher last season, Baker has rushed for 1,272 yards in his career. He has played in 24 career games with a dozen starts, including Saturday’s contest, and was named to the preseason ‘watch’ list for the 2007 Doak Walker Award last week. Baker has not taken a redshirt season and should be eligible for a medical redshirt.

“This is a tough situation for Toney and for our football team,” said first-year head coach Tom O’Brien. “We wish him the best and will support him through his rehabilitation period.”
