Who Will it Be?
That is the question that all Wolfpack fans want to know. Of the three contenders who will Tom O’Brien name as the starting quarterback for the opening game vs. Central Florida? You know their names, Daniel Evans, Justing Burke, and Harrison Beck but which one will walk onto the field as the number one guy? We here at Pack on the Prowl have a guess as to what the order will be and we will get to that in a minute.
First, lets look at Daniel Evans. He came in like a hero last season and gave us all a reason to hope. I can’t remember being more excited at an NC State football game than I was when Dunlap made that touchdown catch in the BC game. The next week was another high for Evans and the Wolfpack as we took down FSU. However, it was all downhill from there. Seven losses later the season was over and Chuck was out of a job. Evans has the experience of ACC football, but there are questions about his size and are strength.
Next there is red shirt freshman Justin Burke. A very accomplished high school player in Kentucky but has no college football experience. Could be the QB in the future, but is now his time? Then there is Nebraska transfer Harrison Beck. He was a very highly recruited HS QB but played very little at Nebraska. He has a very strong arm but has a tendincy to throw it to the wrong team as shown in his ints in the scrimmages.
Through months of discussions and pondering we here at Pack on the Prowl have decided that the starting quarterback for the Wolfpack should be Daniel Evans. We are going with the guy that has experience of playing ACC football. Hopefully we will have better protection for Evans and a better running game to open up the pass. We think that Burke will be the number two with Beck in the third spot. We would not at all be suprised if Burke got some PT at some point in the season.
So there it is. That is our prediction on the starting quarterback spot this there. Of course TOB might surprise us all tomorrow but we are going with Evans.
