Pack Top Reynolds and Singletary by 2
Unfortanly for the Pack the rest of the Cav’s put up 15 to sweep the season series. Sidney Lowe’s men cut the lead to 1 with about 10 mins to play before Virginia’s gaurds took over. As we stated in our previous entry, stopping Reynolds was going to be key for a Wolfpack victory, but we just weren’t able to do it.
On top of the excellent gaurd play from Virginia, poor shooting by the Pack played a huge roll. We finished the game shooting just 31% from the floor, 26% from behind the arc, and just 55% from the free throw line.
Sidney threw a wrench into the starting line up. With the return of Atsur, Lowe put Grant on the bench and gave the starting nod to one of the hottest shooters in the ACC coming into the game, Dennis Horner. As luck would have it, Horner was ice cold going 0-2 from the field and 0-1 from behind the arc. Courtney Fells however had a respectable game. Fells finished with 11 pts, 10 rbs, 2 blocks, and 3 steals. Gavin Grant, put up 8pts, 1 block, 1 steal and 5 turnovers, in 26 mins off the bench.
The Pack’s next game is the 31st at Virginia Tech, another tough opponent who has already upset Duke and UNC-CH. Then the Pack are back home against UNC-CH Saturday Feb. 3rd for a 3:30 tipoff.
This season isn’t going to be easy, we all knew that coming in. Let’s just keep showing them the support they deserve, and honestly, the support they really need in these tough times.
